My name is Carly Pownell and I've been married to my wonderful husband Jesse for 8 years. We have 4 children together ages 13, 8, 4 and 2 and live in Mechanicsburg. I delivered my first surrogate baby a little boy on April 13th, 2013 to a beautiful family in Virginia. My surrogate experience was so amazing and I want to let everyone know what a special gift it has been for both families. I searched for a local support group after my delivery and couldn't find one. I then decided to create my own after realizing how important it is to have other people to talk during a journey that involves so many emotions. I believe it's very important to have support and by having other women to speak to who have been thru or are going thru the same experience can be so helpful.
My name is Jessica Shimmel. I have been married to my husband, Scott, for 11 years. We have two children ages 8 and 5 and we live in Dover. I have worked in the field of early childhood education for 13 years. I love working with children and their families. I believe in the importance of relationship building between caregivers and their child, this is what drew me to Zumbini.

Lisa is a Sign Language instructor with Signing Time Academy, certified to teach Baby Signing Time classes. She has been interpreting for friends for over 10 years and is currently in an accredited interpreter prep program with an interest in Deaf-Blind Interpreting. She loves sharing the benefits of this beautiful, fun, 3-dimensional language with anyone wanting to be more expressive and connect with the Deaf Community. For children the benefits are clear, ASL allows them to access basic interpersonal communicative skills often between 8-14 months of age, much sooner than spoken language can develop. The results are a more confident child prone to less frustration, a firm foundation from which to build additional language proficiencies during the “critical period,” and a closer bond between parents and child.
Colleen is a teacher, student, yogini, traveler, and a lover of hammocks and brussels sprouts. Her simple purchase of a Yoga VHS tape in 2003 was both her first experience with yoga and a turning point in her life. What began as a purely physical practice became a way to manage the stress of graduate school, and has slowly developed into an exploration of the mind, body and spirit.
Colleen holds a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Columbia University and is a certified Vinyasa and Children's Yoga instructor. While teaching preschool in Manhattan, she observed first-hand what natural yogis children are and began teaching regular sessions to her toddler and preschool-aged students. In addition to helping them forge social relationships and become compassionate human beings, they discovered ways to reduce anxiety and release energy in safe, healthy ways. In 2011, Colleen was sponsored by the Starlight Children's Foundation to teach yoga in a hospital Pediatric unit in Brooklyn, where she had the privilege of helping patients and their families reduce pain and stress and promote healing through restorative poses and breathing exercises.
A recent transplant to Central Pennsylvania, Colleen is so excited to have the opportunity to share and play yoga with the Om Baby community!
